There is a laboratory service on site for immediate diagnosis. There is a same-day HIV testing service & a fast-track service for victims of sexual assault. The department has run a number of successful outreach programmes in the last 3 years, providing testing for syphilis & HIV, & hepatitis B vaccination for men who have sex with men. A liaison Health Adviser post was established in 2002, to improve working with primary care & other secondary care specialties. Brighton & Hove successfully bid to be involved in phase 2 of the National Chlamydia Screening Programme. This project aims to screen 30,000 people under 25 across three PCTs per annum. The clinic is looking to adapt creatively its methods of functioning to meet the increasing demand from the local population in line with the aims of the National Sexual Health Strategy, including the development of clinics led by nurses working under Patient Group Directions.
