The Gynaecology Unit (Horsted Keynes Ward) comprises 12 in-patient beds for Gynaecology and Breast care. An early pregnancy assessment service is provided in the unit. The unit provides an ambulatory diagnostic and therapeutic gynaecological Endoscopy service in the purpose-built Gynaecological Endoscopy and Colposcopy suite. Colposcopy Clinics are held on a regular basis.

There is a dedicated infertility clinic for investigation and management of subfertile couples. There is a well-developed gynaecologic ultrasound service and the unit provides RCOG approved special skills training in Gynaecological Ultrasound. The Senior House Officers including those on the GP Scheme are expected to attend theatre, outpatients and specialist clinics including colposcopy, outpatient hysteroscopy and gynaecological ultrasound with a Consultant.

The Obstetrics Unit is situated on Bolney Ward and the Central Delivery Suite. There are about 2,200 deliveries per year at the Princess Royal Hospital. The Maternity Ward (Bolney) has 34 beds and takes both Antenatal and Post-natal patients. There is also an antenatal day assessment unit located on Bolney ward. An excellent ultrasound service is provided. All women are offered nuchal translucency evaluation, and there is a specialist prenatal diagnosis service on site. There is a weekly joint Medical/Obstetric Clinic held in conjunction with a Consultant Physician where women with medical complications of pregnancy are seen. Facilities for intra-partum monitoring are provided and a 24-hour epidural service is available.

The Senior House Officers duties include routine ward work, attending Consultant rounds and antenatal clinics, and providin performed on a daily basis. The Senior House Officer is expected to check the admissions for each list on the preceding day and to attend theatre in each case.
