Brighton Psychiatry

From August 2007 there will be eight GP VTS posts within Brighton and are in General Adult, Old Age, Substance Misuse Psychiatry and Learning Disabilities. All of these posts offer a mix of inpatient, outpatient and community work and encompass the training needs of future GPs. These posts provide excellent opportunities for working in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Trainees working within a sub-speciality such as Substance Misuse or Learning Disabilities will have the opportunity to experience General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry.

There is a successful programme of in house training every Wednesday afternoon led by the Specialist Registrars with the opportunity to attend Psychotherapy teaching and the Journal Club. The trainee will take part in the out of hours rota for Mental Health Services within Brighton, this rota excludes child psychiatry. This offers a broad range of emergency psychiatric services.
