Mid Sussex Psychiatry

There are 7 SHO posts in Mid-Sussex. The base is a 350 bedded district general hospital. Acute inpatient psychiatry, intensive psychiatric care unit, acute old age assessment, old age day hospital, medium stay rehabilitation unit and inpatient child and adolescent services are all based on site. Also on site is the regional neurosciences unit (neurology and neurosurgery).

In the adult psychiatry service there are 3 sectors each with its own CMHC and a Consultant led CMHT.

The consultant led liaison service covers all aspects of DSH and provides specialist input to perinatal psychiatry and neuropsychiatry.

The old age service covers all aspects of functional and organic mental illness with inpatients, outpatients and day patient services.

The rehabilitation service links with the home treatment team and assertive outreach teams with inpatient beds on site.

Child and adolescent services are specialist tier 4 inpatient services with the whole of Sussex.

There is an active postgraduate medical centre with weekly multidisciplinary lectures, monthly grand rounds and in-house weekly psychiatric teaching programme.
